After working in increasingly more responsible positions in Public accounting, internal auditing and elsewhere in the private sector, Mr. Tamarkin became Controller of a new retail division at Berkey Photo in 1977, a NYSE company.  Mr. Tamarkin, a Certified Public Accountant, received his BBA from Pace College in 1967. 

In 1984, Mr. Tamarkin, along with a partner, purchased the division that consisted of a chain of photofinishing specialty stores and owned and operated them through 2001.  Mr. Tamarkin, joined SCORE as a volunteer counselor in 2001.
