Alan
has been working in technology since January of 1959. Beginning his career in the IBM mid-range area, Alan became a
programmer in 1962 for Simon & Schuster.
In 1965, he became Operations Manager for Forbes, working on IBM
Mainframe systems.

In
1971, Alan began a consulting firm, Basic Systems Functions, located in
NYC. In 1976, he joined
Fidelcor Business Credit and was Manager of Data Processing. In 1991, Fideclor was acquired by the CIT Group, a world
renowned financial services company.
As Vice President of Systems and Technology, and later as Chief
Information Officer, Alan was responsible for managing and directing a
group of professional technologists supporting one of the eight business
units of CIT. He was also
responsible for company-wide training of CIT’s Credit Finance Unit. |

In
1971, Alan served a two-year term as President of Guidance International,
a NYC based non-profit users’ group.
He was elected to a second two-year term in 1990.
His responsibilities included arranging for guest speakers,
conducting monthly meetings, and scheduling educational forums. Alan
is also a Volunteer Instructor for SeniorNet, an organization devoted to
teaching seniors how to use Personal Computers. He has been a SCORE
Volunteer since 2002. |
