What is SCORE?

SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business, is a non-profit association and a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration.  SCORE is dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth, and success in starting and maintaining a small businesses.  Members are trained to serve as counselors, advisors, and mentors to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners.  SCORE was formed in 1964 and nearly 4.5 million Americans have utilized SCORE services.  This website is Chapter 476 and is the Staten Island branch of a National organization.

The Staten Island Score Chapter 476 provides these services at no fee, as a community service thanks to the generous support of local business organizations such as The Independence Community Foundation, Richmond County Savings Bank, Commerce Bank and The S.I. Bank & Trust.

How is SCORE Staffed?

SCORE volunteers serve as "Counselors to America's Small Business."  Working and retired executives and business owners donate their time and expertise as volunteer business counselors and provide confidential counseling and mentoring free of charge.  SCORE volunteers provide expertise in virtually every area of business management.  To help SCORE assign proper counselors, a national skills bank is utilized to help identify the best counselors for its clients.
